Suspended means invisible. Every day costs you calls.

When Google suspends a Business Profile, it disappears from Google Maps and the local pack. Calls, direction requests and website clicks from Google stop. Reviews you spent years earning are hidden. Customers search for you and find your competitors instead.

Most owners react the same way: file an appeal straight away, or create a new profile. Both usually make it worse. An appeal filed before the real problem is fixed is often denied, and a new profile is a duplicate, which Google tells you not to create while an appeal is under review.

What is a Google Business Profile suspension?

A suspension is a restriction Google places on a Business Profile it believes breaks the guidelines for representing your business on Google. Google's help pages describe profiles as suspended or disabled, and in practice owners see three situations:

  • Removed from Maps and Search. The profile no longer appears to customers. This is the serious one and usually points to an eligibility or address problem.
  • Visible but you cannot manage it. Customers still see the listing, but edits, posts and review replies are blocked. This is often linked to the business name, recent edits or the account managing it.
  • Account-level restriction. The Google account that manages the profile is not in good standing, so every profile it manages can be affected.

Google sends an email and shows a notice in the profile, but it rarely names the exact reason. That is why diagnosis comes before anything else.

The most common reasons Google suspends a profile

In the profiles we review, nearly every suspension traces back to one of these:

  • Keywords in the business name, such as "Smith Plumbing - 24/7 Emergency Plumber Phoenix", when the legal and signage name is "Smith Plumbing".
  • An address customers cannot use: a virtual office, a P.O. box, a shared co-working desk with no signage, or a mailbox store.
  • Service-area set-up mistakes, such as showing a home address for a business that visits customers instead of receiving them.
  • Duplicate profiles for the same business at the same address, often created by a past agency or a well-meaning employee.
  • Large or frequent edits to the name, address, category or phone number in a short time.
  • Ineligible businesses, such as online-only stores, rental listings or lead-generation pages.
  • Mismatched details between the profile, the website and directory listings.
  • Review problems, such as incentivised or bulk reviews.
  • Competitor reports that push a borderline profile into manual review.
  • Manager account problems, where a user on the profile has a restricted Google account.

What evidence Google accepts, and how appeals fail

Google's own help page lists the documents it accepts and gives one rule that decides most appeals: the business name and address on every document must match the profile.

EvidenceWhat it provesCommon mistake
Business registration or licenseThe business legally exists under this nameTrading name on the profile differs from the registered name
Utility bill (electric, water, phone, internet)You operate at this addressBill is in the owner's personal name or a different suite number
Tax certificateThe business is active and registered locallyOut-of-date document or a different address
Photos of storefront, signage or branded vehicleCustomers can find and recognise the businessTemporary banner, no visible street number, stock photos

The 60-minute rule: once you open the evidence form in the Appeals Tool, the files must be uploaded within 60 minutes or they are not attached. We prepare and check everything before the form is opened.

How the reinstatement appeal works in 2026

  • Fix first. Correct the name, address, categories, managers and anything else that breaks the guidelines. Appealing an unchanged profile is the most common reason for a denial.
  • Open the Appeals Tool while signed in to the Google account that owns or manages the profile, and select the restricted profile.
  • Review the stated policy. Google shows the policy it applied. It is a starting point, not always the full story.
  • Submit the appeal and evidence in one sitting, inside the 60-minute window.
  • Wait for the email decision. Do not create a new profile or make big edits while the appeal is under review.

Managing more than ten profiles? Google accepts bulk appeals using a spreadsheet of profile IDs and evidence, which we prepare for multi-location brands.

What to do if your appeal was denied

A denial is not always final. It usually means Google did not see enough proof, or the profile still breaks a guideline. We look at what was submitted, what the profile looked like at the time and what changed since. If a second appeal has a realistic chance, we rebuild the case with stronger evidence. Where needed we raise the case through the Google Business Profile community, where Product Experts can review it.

If a business is genuinely ineligible, we tell you plainly and show you the compliant alternative, such as a service-area set-up or a stronger website and local SEO plan, instead of taking your money for an appeal that cannot win.

How long does Google Business Profile reinstatement take?

Our review and fixes usually take 1 to 3 working days, depending on how quickly documents are available. Google then makes the decision. Many appeals are answered within a few days; others take 2 to 3 weeks, and complex or multi-location cases can take longer. Once reinstated, rankings often take a few weeks to settle, which is why recovery work matters.

Want to try it yourself first? Read our guide to recovering a suspended Google Business Profile without making it worse.

How to prevent another suspension

  • Use your real-world business name exactly as it appears on your signage and documents.
  • Only show an address where you serve customers in person, with permanent signage.
  • Make large changes one at a time, and keep proof ready before you change an address.
  • Remove managers you do not know and keep ownership with a business email you control.
  • Keep the name, address and phone number identical across your website and directories.
  • Never buy or gate reviews.

Our local SEO service includes monthly profile monitoring so problems are caught before Google acts on them.

Is our reinstatement service right for you?

We take cases where the business is real and eligible. If it is not, we will say so in the free review.

Google Business Profile reinstatement FAQs

Straight answers on suspensions, appeals, timing and pricing.

The Dexora Digital team at work
Question not answered here?Email ahmad@dexoradigital.com, we reply to every message.
Why was my Google Business Profile suspended?
Google suspends profiles it believes break its guidelines for representing a business. The most common causes are keywords in the business name, an address customers cannot visit (virtual office, P.O. box or unstaffed location), duplicate profiles, large or frequent edits, an ineligible business type and problems with the Google account that manages the profile. Google rarely names the exact cause, so a proper diagnosis comes first.
How long does Google Business Profile reinstatement take?
Our diagnosis and fixes usually take 1 to 3 working days. Google then reviews the appeal and replies by email. Many decisions arrive within a few days, others take 2 to 3 weeks, and multi-location or complex cases can take longer.
How much does GBP reinstatement cost?
Our suspension review is free. A diagnosis and appeal plan you file yourself is $149. Our done-for-you reinstatement is $499 one-time, including fixes, evidence, the appeal, follow-up and a second appeal if needed. Multi-location and agency work is quoted per project.
Can you guarantee my profile will be reinstated?
No one can honestly guarantee Google's decision. What we can do is find the real cause, fix it, submit the strongest possible evidence and keep working the case. If we do not believe the profile can be reinstated, we tell you in the free review before you pay anything.
My appeal was denied. Can you still help?
Often, yes. Most denials happen because the profile still broke a guideline or the evidence did not match the profile. We review what was submitted, correct the issues and file a stronger second appeal, escalating through the Google Business Profile community where that helps.
Should I create a new Google Business Profile instead?
No. Google asks you not to create a new profile for the same business while an appeal is under review. A new profile is a duplicate and can make the original case harder to win, and it starts from zero reviews.
What documents do I need to appeal a suspension?
Google accepts official business registration, a business license, a tax certificate and utility bills such as electricity, water, phone or internet. Photos of a permanent storefront, signage or branded vehicles also help. The business name and address on every document must match the profile.
Do you need my Google password?
No. We only ask to be added as a manager on the profile. You keep ownership, and you can remove our access at any time once the case is closed.
Will my reviews and rankings come back after reinstatement?
Reinstated profiles usually get their reviews, photos and history back. Rankings can take a few weeks to settle, and the profile is sometimes weaker at first. Our done-for-you service includes guidance to recover rankings safely.
Do you handle multiple locations or agency clients?
Yes. We handle bulk suspensions across franchises and multi-location brands, including Google's spreadsheet-based bulk appeals for more than ten profiles, and we work white label for agencies.

Get back on Google Maps. Start with a free review.

Send us the profile today. Within 24 hours you will know the likely cause, whether reinstatement is realistic and exactly what it takes.
